The Catalog of endangered species of Catalonia, approved in September 2022, was promoted by the Department of Climate Action, Food and Rural Agenda with the aim of protecting and conserving Catalan wildlife species at risk of disappearing.
The Catalog includes 255 vulnerable species, 112 endangered and 18 extinct as breeders, more than half of which are invertebrates. Although there are emblematic species well known for being threatened, such as the brown bear or the bearded vulture, most of them are great unknowns, like some invertebrates from underground environments, or they are popular species that we would never have thought were in danger, such as the barn owl.
This exhibition collects in 16 photographs a sample of the various groups of wildlife that occupy our habitats and the threats of all kinds that they suffer, with the intention of highlighting the importance of the our ecosystems conservation and, consequently, of the wildlife that inhabits them.
