Dominic Couzens is a bird and wildlife writer who has contributed to a large number of magazines such as BBC Wildlife and the RSPB’s Birds. He is also the author of a good number of books such as “The Secret Lives of Garden Birds”, “Extreme Birds”, or the useful identification guide “Birds ID Insights. Identifying the more difficult Birds of Britain” among others, but at this Delta Birding Festival he comes to talk to us, among other topics, about his latest work called “100 Birds to See in Your Lifetime: The Ultimate Wish-list for Birders Everywhere”, which he has written together with David Chandler, also an ornithologist and a great scientific communicator on ornithological issues.
This book proposes a list of the 100 “top” birds in the World that must be seen before dying. Some species are endangered and therefore must be seen and preserved; others are quite common but have a particular plumage or behavior that makes them exceptional; and others have a legendary status among birdwatchers and nature enthusiasts, such as the red-crowned cranes or the spectacular gyrfalcon.
