In 2021, it’s verified for first time the nesting of Audouin’s gull on a roof in Barcelona where 205 pairs have been successfully nested. This is the first time that an event like that unexpectedly has happened in the world. In recent years this species changed nesting on islands to nest on sandy beaches, harbors and now industrial zones.
Which conservation problems involve that this species and other ones such as terns, have leaved natural areas behind and started colonizing new habitats?
The conference will be given by Ricard Gutiérrez, a technician of the marine fauna rescue network of Generalitat de Catalunya, with the collaboration of Juan Bécares, member of CORY ‘s and the author of the recovery plan for the Audouin’s gull update, and the Centre d’Estudis Avançats de Blanes.
