In this edition we will enjoy a novelty, the DBF Junior! A space to give voice to he new generations of ornithologists and naturalists.
We have looked for people who not only share their passion for birds but who, in addition, are carrying out a personal projects that we have considered particularly interesting.

The young people who will accompany us this #dbf22 are the following ones:

Construction of nest boxes to improve bird habitats – Guillem Iturbe
10:30 to 11:00h – Marquee 2 – Catalan
In his talk, Guillem will explain how he got the idea of doing this project in which he builds nest boxes to improve the habitats of birds. He will also reveal to us how he has done it to build low price nest boxes but with a good quality, and how the money collected will be given to the ICO to help this association to develop its projects.

Know to love and protect – Maria Mira
11:00 to 11:30h – Marquee 2 – Catalan
Maria will start her lecture talking about how her passion for birds began and her trajectory. As well as, she will explain the new projects that she has on mind. Everything linked to one of her main goals to achieve, make ornithologists, naturalists or anyone else be conscious about nature and protect it.

Tona’s reedbed – Genís Cunill
11:30 to 12:00h – Marquee 2 – Catalan
The habitat provided by reedbed in Tona is unique and unusual in the Osona region. A multitude of exceptional of birds, micromammals, odonates and plants have been documented. Faced with the threat of building, Genís has carried out a multi-taxonomic sampling (birds, micromammals, mammals, odonates and plants) in order to know the current ecological state of the reedbed through a complete monitoring through phototrapping, censuses periodicals, a SEMICE station, etc., and thus be able to argue a strong defense against the building project.

Birds of Spain. A photographic guide for identification – Carlos Pérez Naval
12:00 to 12:30h – Marquee 2 – Spanish
The young photographer from Teruel will come to explain his first project resulting from 10 years behind the camera. An extremely comprehensive field guide with images for bird identification and information on biometric data, phenology and conservation status; a distribution map; and a short text with indications about habitat preferences and singular behaviors. The first field guide based entirely on photographs as a tool for the identification of the birds of Spain, a country with an excellent ornithological wealth not only in the European context, but in the entire Western Palearctic.

The role of new generations on the catalan ornithology – Artur Morales & Otger Fortià
12:30 to 13:00h – Marquee 2 – Catalan
Artur and Otger are two young boys linked to the world of ornithology. The first is the creator of the Ornithological Group Garrriguenc while the second of the Birding Junior group, with which they organize meetings of young birders. In their talk, they will explain us about their individual and group experience and their projects which can certainly contribute to a greater involvement and interest of the new generations towards nature and specifically the ornithology.
