In the Catalan-Valencian-Balearic sea, 64 species of 10 families of seabirds have been cited. Some are easily determined such as the gavot, the gannet or the black-footed Tern. But is hard to understand for many people the variety of gulls, shearwaters or parasites. Ricard Gutiérrez, of Pelagicus association, not only works professionally in the conservation of seabirds but also on dissemination, teaching and study through the association.
This introductory workshop will show us that it is not so difficult to understand seabirds and will be an interesting complement to the DBF’s outings to sea and will serve to learn about the most relevant families and species in autumn on the southern Catalan coast. Apart from a theoretical session, we will observe species from the terrace of the MonNatura building with the optics of Swarovski Optik, especially useful for seawarching thanks to its power, ergonomics and definition.
