Jordina Baucells – Study of the white-throated dipper in the Riera Major (DBF Junior)

Jordina is a 16-year-old girl, ornithologist and passionate about nature. She has been chasing birds since she was little, taking her father’s hobby and turning it into her own.

In this DBF Jordina will present her research work on the study of white-throated dippers in the Riera Major. We always tend to focus more on one bird than another, and Jordina has always been very impressed by the white-throated dipper: how such a small bird is able to stay in such cold water in the coldest months of the year and also finding food and diving to find it?

The curiosity generated by this bird is what made her decide to start this work, to get to know it better and to try to help conserve its population.
