Francesco Rovedo is an environmental scientist and Laura Núñez is a biologist, and both are guides for wildlife tracking trips in the Arctic. They share a passion for wildlife photography, responsible travel practices — such as the Ecology and Conservation of Arctic Ecosystems course in Svalbard that they run every year in collaboration with the Biomas Association — and content creation, which in 2022 led to the launch of the podcast Wild Podcast El Guardabosques, a program focused on outreach, education, and conservation, full of curiosities about our natural surroundings.
In El Guardabosques, they share the secrets of wildlife that they have discovered during more than six years guiding tours across Europe. Along with anecdotes and research, this has resulted in a wide variety of biology-related topics. With a clear goal of connecting with nature, promoting respect for wildlife, and making scientific information accessible to all audiences, and after more than 35 episodes, this year they are coming to the Delta Birding Festival to record a very special episode: playing the Delta Trivia live.
What will it be like? The audience will be divided into two teams and asked multiple-choice questions, competing for the coveted title of Guardadeltas. There will be five categories: Sounds, Curiosities, History, Identification, and True/False. Participants will try to answer as many Delta del Ebro-specific wildlife questions as possible, after which Francesco and Laura will add extra information once they have been answered. If you want to have fun, laugh while learning, and win a prize or two, don’t miss the Delta Trivia!
