One of the main objective of the festival is to encourage and promote research and conservation projects. That’s why the profit obtained from the tickets selling is intended to this kind of projects. Over the editions, we already raised the total amount of 23.000 euros! So, visitors are relevant to all these projects get funded. We count on you to help nature!
2021 Project: the Daasanach’s birdwatchers
This 2021, for the first time in the short history of this festival, we will support a project that is taking place on another continent, specifically on the shores of Lake Turkana, in the northeast of Kenya, Africa.
The project named “Promoting birds fans at the Daasanach tribe in Africa, by giving them the tools they need“, pretend collaborate with the members of the Daasanach tribe with the aim of deepen the knowledge of the ornithological wealth of the region and the possible development as an ecotourism destination. That’s why they created the Ileret ornithological club with the tribe members.
The Delta Birding Festival support them allocating the economic resources generated by the festival to make the publication of the first field guide of birds and other fauna for the Daasanach, written in their language, so that it becomes a basic tool for learning and the collaboration of its members.
Moreover, we appeal to all festival visitors to bring us binoculars you are not using (but in minimum good conditions) to give them a second useful life in the hands of the members of the Ileret ornithological club. Before sending them, Oryx will check and fix to ensure that are in the best conditions. So, don’t forget your old binoculars at home and make a donation to the members of the Ileret ornithological club!!
