WHAT MAKES US DIFFERENT?

WHAT MAKES US DIFFERENT?

One of the main objectives of the festival is to encourage and promote research and conservation projects. That is why the profit obtained from the tickets’ sale is allocated to this type of project. In this way and thanks to your involvement, all these projects obtain funds. In all of the previous editions, we have already allocated more than €35,000! We count on you to contribute more to nature.

Conservation project for the European Roller and steppe birds in the Alt Camp dryland plain

The 12th edition of the Delta Birding Festival will donate the proceeds from ticket sales to the conservation project for the European Roller and steppe birds presented by the local organisation GEPEC-EdC. The project aims to protect threatened farmland species in one of the last remaining Mediterranean agroforestry mosaics in the Camp de Tarragona.

In response to habitat loss, intensive pesticide use and the effects of climate change, the project has been implementing applied conservation actions since 2015. Key measures include the installation of nest boxes, scientific monitoring of populations, the ringing of chicks, and studies on the impact of temperature inside artificial shelters. The project will also work to conserve the Little Owl, the Little Bustard and the Greater Short-toed Lark through agreements with farmers and farmland stewardship measures.

The project combines research, land management and public participation to promote biodiversity and preserve the traditional agricultural landscape of the area.
