Study of black wheatear populations
In Catalonia black wheatear is a rare resident, distributed in a localized way between some coastal ranges (Garraf, or Cap de Creus), pre-coastal (Montserrat), with some isolated nuclei in the depression of the Ebro and sunny sectors of some ranges interiors, and parts of the Tarragona mountains. In this last sector precisely, this species seems to be suffering a strong regression due to the transformation of its habitat. Thanks to the contribution of the Delta Birding Festival, the Picampall association was able to carry out a study to better understand the state of the black wheatear population in the south of Catalonia.
