Let’s get the Ullals de Panxa back!
This wetland is fed by rainwater, which flows through the aquifer from the massifs of Port and Montsià towards the sea. Upon encountering the deltaic materials, they are forced to emerge forming these outcrops. With the financial contribution of the Delta Birding Festival, it will be possible to install nest boxes that will facilitate the reintroduction of the marbled duck (Marmaronetta angustirostris), one of the seven species in a critical situation in Spain and the most threatened duck in Europe. From 2021, the Marbled Duck LIFE project develops actions in critical areas for the species in Andalusia, Valencia and Murcia with the aim of restoring at least 3,000 hectares of wetlands, their habitat and reversing the risk of extinction.
