Ana Rivas is a physiotherapist by profession and a birder at heart. She leads the project “Voces Pajareras”, an initiative that aims to give visibility to women in birdwatching, and has developed the survey “Profiles, Experiences and Dynamics in Birdwatching” to gain a deeper understanding of our community.

During her talk, she will explain what the birding community in Spain is really like. She will present the survey “Profiles, Experiences and Dynamics in Birdwatching”, which was created with the aim of better understanding the community by providing data beyond subjective perceptions. With 1,230 responses collected across the country, the survey explores profiles, motivations, forms of participation, and some of the barriers women may encounter when accessing and remaining within the community.
She will also speak about the project “Voces Pajareras”, the most active and human side of the initiative. Through profiles and interviews, it seeks to give visibility to the projects and experiences of national and international women birders within the world of birdwatching. If the survey provides the data, “Voces Pajareras” gives them voices and faces.
