We are an expedition team lost in a remote part of the planet. We have found traces of unknown birds: several clues that could help us discover what they look like, where they live and what secrets they hide. Our mission will be to create an illustration based on these clues, just as naturalists did in the 16th and 17th centuries. So, individually or in teams, we will draw them, describe them and come up with the perfect name for each one.
But a discovery is of little use if no one knows it exists. That is why each new species will be recorded on a fact sheet that will become part of our great Atlas of Imaginary Birds: an exhibition featuring all the species from our expedition, which we can share with the world to help people discover and protect them.
What’s more, every participant will take home their official Expedition Illustrator certificate!
