Cursa Ornitho-Swarovski

The Ornitho-Swarovski Challenge consists of submitting complete checklists as often as possible.

How can I take part?

To participate, you simply need to submit complete checklists to ornitho.cat between 1 January 2026 and 18 September 2026.

Among all participants, one monthly winner is selected through a draw in which each observer receives as many entries as the number of days on which they have submitted checklists. In other words, if an observer has submitted complete checklists on 20 days, they have twice the chance of winning as someone who has submitted them on only 10 days.

The monthly winner is selected on the 10th day of the following month, except for the September winner, who is selected during an event at the DBF, where the overall winner of the challenge is also drawn.

Only complete checklists lasting at least 30 minutes, carried out in Catalonia or Andorra, and submitted to ornitho.cat (either through the website or via the Naturalist app) before the date of each draw will be considered valid.

Prizes

The overall winner is selected by a direct draw among the monthly winners (as there are nine monthly draws, there can be a maximum of nine potential overall winners).

The overall winner will receive a pair of Swarovski Optik EL 10×42 binoculars, worth €2,530, while each monthly winner will receive a €50 voucher for the Oryx Nature Store.

Members of the ICO Board of Directors and ICO staff, as well as the winner of the previous year’s challenge, may participate by submitting checklists, but their entries are not eligible for the draws and therefore cannot win any prizes.
