With publication scheduled for September 2025, during this talk we will have the exclusive opportunity to enjoy the very first presentation of this remarkable tracking guide, written by expert trackers Fernando Gómez, Paloma Troya and Elvia G. Troya, and edited and published by Tundra.
Comprised of four volumes, it is the most extensive and comprehensive compendium on this subject ever produced in the Iberian and European context. To create it, intensive field sampling was carried out in more than 20 countries, tracking from the Strait of Gibraltar and the Canary Islands to the Svalbard archipelago, reaching as far east as the Caucasus in Armenia. The aim was to cover all European ecosystems and represent the greatest possible diversity of species.
Volume I, dedicated to mammals, contains nearly 1,000 pages, over 2,000 photographs and more than 100 infographics, which thoroughly illustrate all types of signs of presence for more than 80 species and species groups. It includes everything from tracks and trails to feeding remains of both plant and animal origin, as well as droppings, territorial markings, burrows, resting places, wallows, bone remains, hair, and much more. All of this is accompanied by extensive information on tracking itself: its origins, applications, study methods, and practical recommendations for fieldwork.
