The complex process of transporting and bringing the first Przewalski’s horses to the mountains of Villanueva de Alcorón (Alto Tajo, Guadalajara) is the starting point of the short film A New Breath for the Southern Iberian System, filmed in Spanish and English. Over its 15-minute duration, it features never-before-seen images of this operation carried out by Rewilding Spain and Rewilding Europe, thanks to which the Southern Iberian System is today home to the largest herd of Przewalski’s horses in southern Europe.
The documentary is directed by award-winning French filmmaker Emmanuel Rondeau, from White Fox Pictures, and is part of a documentary series produced by Rewilding Europe.
The short film also includes testimonies from entrepreneurs, young people, and organizations whose work is essential for restoring ecological processes, ensuring that this rewilding effort also serves as a driver of positive impact on the local economy of the Southern Iberian System.
Wildlife, nature restoration, collaborative work, and entrepreneurship come together in this documentary, which features spectacular images of the landscape and helps explain why rewilding has such strong potential to improve both our environment and people’s lives.
