Dhritiman Mukherjee has been a nature, wildlife and conservation photographer for over 26 years. Throughout his career, he has focused on documenting species and habitats that require special attention. In recent years, he has also ventured into documentary filmmaking and, over the past six years, has directed and produced more than 70 films, most of them focused on nature conservation.
This talk takes the audience on a journey through some of Dhritiman’s most memorable field experiences photographing a wide variety of bird species in diverse situations. For him, the greatest beauty of nature photography lies in the fact that every day in the field brings an opportunity to discover something new.
Capturing a remarkable image is about much more than pressing the shutter. Nature photography requires the ability to anticipate animal behaviour and predict what might happen next. Such intuition can only be developed through a deep understanding of species and their habitats, built on knowledge, observation and years of experience.
During the talk, Dhritiman will share these lessons through a selection of photographs and image sequences, revealing what often happens behind the scenes: the stories, challenges and insights that nature offers to those who take the time to truly observe it.
