Opean sea sailing to observe pelagic birds

One of the most attractive activities that can be done, not only in the festival, but also within the ornithological world in general, are the trips to the open sea to observe pelagic species.

These outings allow us to see some birds up close that are otherwise very difficult to observe, since they normally live far from the coast.

We will take advantage of the fact that we leave from the l’Ampolla Harbour to approach the bluefin tuna farm, a place where a good number of these birds can be observed, due to the food that is thrown to feed the tuna.

This pelagic outing will focus on the identification problems presented by some of these species, such as the Mediterranean and Balearic Shearwaters, and for this reason we have requested the collaboration of Ricard Gutiérrez, an expert ornithologist who works in the Marine Fauna Rescue of the Generalitat de Catalunya.
