Enric Badosa – Second Atlas of nesting birds in the Maresme: the repetition of a collective effort!

Enric Badosa is a biologist, ornithologist, professor and member of the Catalan Institute of Ornithology, and also a member of the Preserve the Maresme Coast Platform.

At the Delta Birding Festival he will talk to us about the second Atlas of nesting birds in the Maresme. Maresme is a region with a strong ornithological tradition. Since the 19th century there have been publications in the region about the birds found there. In the last two decades, thanks to this ornithological muscle, a regional atlas of nesting birds was published in 2006 and a second publication is now being prepared.

This is the last year of field work and it is expected that with the editing and publication we will have a new book in 2026. This last work has more volunteers and more media than the first atlas (digital tools, audiomoths, internet portals, etc..), but the comparison of the data from the first atlas with this second allows us to see the trends in the distribution of birds in the region during the last two decades.
