Biological stations act as a base for scientists to work in specific areas, but how they are used can change greatly depending on who runs them. In some places they are linked to recovery centers, in others to ringing stations and some also to ornithological tourism. In Catalonia, many are managed by the Parks, but the Montseny Biological Station is managed by ICO, which wanted to give it a more active touch.

Thanks to the international volunteering program, 6 young Europeans stay for 1 year to carry out citizen science, outreach, research and conservation projects. The volunteers themselves will tell you in different languages what their experience is like, what they have learned and what the results of their studies are.
