Micro-Reserves of Butterflies in Catalonia

23 July 2021

In Catalonia for 28 years now, a systematic monitoring of diurnal butterfly populations has been carried out. In all these years, more than 180 species have been but around fifty of them have been found to have a negative or a very negative trend.

To reverse this situation, the people of  Paisatges Vius have started a project called MicroReserves of Butterflies.

This aims, through land stewardship agreements, to create reserves both in areas where there is a presence of endangered butterflies and in others that host a great richness of these insects.

In his lecture, Guillem Mas of Paisatges Vius, will talk about butterflies, obviously, but also about management and how things should be done to design effective measures to protect nature..
