Ponç Feliu is a biologist and environmental scientist, and currently serves as Director of the Aiguamolls de l’Empordà Natural Park. He has extensive experience in the management of Protected Natural Areas and strong ties to various naturalist and environmental organisations. He was Director of the Ter Consortium for 10 years and Director of Cap de Creus Natural Park for 6 years. He is also an ornithologist and has published around ten books on birds, environmental outreach, guides to discovering natural areas, and “Green Birding”, a discipline he practices and which has taken him across Europe by bicycle.
Ponç will close the cycle of talks at the Delta Birding Festival with this closing conference.
Over the coming years, Catalonia will establish new Natural Parks, including those in the Prades Mountains, the Montsec Mountains and Albera. The latter will expand the area currently covered by the Site of National Natural Interest and will also include a marine area. In addition, other Natural Parks are working on modifications and extensions to their boundaries, as well as on improving their management tools through the development of Natural Environment and Landscape Protection Plans.
