A Seabird Summer (conference in english)

Rachel Bigsby is a young wildlife photographer, internationally known by her artistic work photographing seabirds. Rachel’s talented profile became popular when she was a finalist in the World’s top five wildlife photography contests, as well as through National Geographic publications.

As a key spokesperson for Nikon Europe, Rachel is participates in public speakings at a wide variety of international events, and co-leads a number of highly respected wildlife photography workshops. 2021 and 2022 were significant years of achievement for Rachel, beginning with the opportunity to appear on the BBC and ending as the creator of Nikon, a company with which she is an active partner.

But Rachel’s main ambition is to inspire the public with her career path and through her photographs to raise awareness about the plight about the difficult situation in which wildlife finds itself. In addition, as a young woman passionate about nature, she is interested in breaking down the barriers that may prevent young people from flourishing within the bird watching and wildlife photography community.

Over the past few years, Rachel has continued her work as a volunteer at Skomer Island and RSPB Bempton Cliffs, work that has allowed her to broaden her understanding of ecology and seabird behaviour, while also improving her photographic skills.

This September Rachel will come to the Delta Birding Festival to explain to us what a typical summer is like for her, working face to face with seabirds. Join her on an adventure to know more about seabird species, locations, equipment and photographic techniques!
