SAM project: watching seabirds from El Trabucador

El Trabucador is one of the best spots in the Ebro Delta for watching seabirds. In this activity, we will head to this special area to identify the species present and discover the variety of birds that can be seen from the coast, from gulls and terns to shearwaters, skuas, or cormorants, depending on the conditions and the time of year.

We’ll take the opportunity to learn about the SAM project from the Catalan Ornithology Institute (ICO), a citizen science program that collects seabird observations from the shore to improve knowledge about their distribution and timing. We’ll explain how the project works, the kind of information it provides for research and conservation, and how anyone can contribute. Whether you’re interested in taking part in a citizen science project or just want to enjoy a session of seabird watching in an amazing setting, this activity is for you.
