Fernando Gómez – Journey to the Paleolithic Age: the last Tanzania trackers, the Hadza.

Fernando Gómez is an expert in wildlife tracking techniques at an international level, runs tracking services with SERAFO and is a tracking guide for Rift Valley Expeditions. At the Delta Birding Festival, he will talk about tracking in Africa.

There is a place north of Lake Eyasi where the last Tanzanian trackers survive. On the edge of the savanna, into the thorny forests, in the territory of black mambas, baboons and hyenas, there remain a few hunter-gatherers who venture to read the ground, follow tracks or communicate with a bird to get honey. This is the extraordinary odyssey of a nomadic people who still survive by tracking and hunting in a hostile but extremely beautiful place. A reality typical of the Paleolithic age that in the era of technology allows us to better know the human being that we were and be aware of how disconnected we currently are from wild nature.
