Sailing among birds in the bay of Fangar

14 July 2021

The Fangar is a shallow bay that receives a supply of salt water through the mouth of the Fangar peninsula that faces directly the open sea, but also has an important input of fresh water and nutrients through the rice fields drainage channels.

This characteristic and the fact that it is sheltered from the eastern storms makes it a meeting point for a good number of aquatic birds, especially waders.

The activity “El Fangar: the birds’ bay” offers you the possibility to take a close look, by boat, at the Fangar bay and its birds as well as the famous mussel and oyster farms which produce their presious jewels. The outing will be complemented with a visit to the north coast of l’Ampolla where we can enjoy, among other things, a colony of Pallid Swifts.
