WHAT MAKES US DIFFERENT?

WHAT MAKES US DIFFERENT?

One of the main objectives of the festival is to encourage and promote research and conservation projects. That is why the profit obtained from the tickets’ sale is allocated to this type of project. In this way and thanks to your involvement, all these projects obtain funds. In all of the previous editions, we have already allocated more than €35,000! We count on you to contribute more to nature.

Torre dels Budells habitat restoration (Montllober-Massalcoreig)

This 11th edition of the Delta Birding Festival will allocate the proceeds from ticket sales to the habitat restoration project at Torre dels Budells (Montllober–Massalcoreig).

This estate, recently acquired by Photo Logistics, is located in the arid landscape typical of western Catalonia, a region that has suffered a severe loss of natural habitats due to intensive agriculture and other human pressures. With the primary goal of dedicating the land entirely to conservation, the project is rooted in a commitment to active ecological restoration and local community involvement. It is designed as a demonstrative initiative, intended to serve as a replicable model across other areas of the Lleida plain.

The festival’s ticket sales will help fund the ecological enhancement of these three hectares, supporting the recovery of typical dryland vegetation such as Limonium and Salsola species—characteristic of well-preserved steppe habitats. The project also aims to benefit umbrella species like the black-eared wheatear and the great grey shrike, as well as other species of interest including the stock dove, Eurasian eagle-owl, little owl, european bee-eater, hoopoe, ocellated lizard, and Montpellier snake.

Additionally, the project seeks to balance conservation with responsible public access, ensure water points to support biodiversity in this arid environment, and increase food and shelter availability for wildlife through traditional farming practices.
