David Perpiñán is a veterinarian, naturalist and wildlife documentary filmmaker. Ten years ago, he founded Concolor Media, and since then he has been dedicated to producing short and feature-length documentaries focusing on Iberian wildlife.
Video is becoming the main form of communication and learning today, and this trend is likely to continue in the near future. Even nature photographers are now posting more videos than photographs on their social media, while nature photography agencies are asking their represented photographers to include video clips in their submissions. Moreover, video allows us to tell stories that move and raise awareness among audiences, whether through short films or 50–90-minute documentaries capable of reaching large audiences.
In this talk, David Perpiñán will explain how to turn birdwatching into audiovisual storytelling, exploring the principles of video, bird filming techniques, the right equipment for each situation, and different approaches to storytelling. These principles will be complemented by real-life filming experiences and examples from the field.
