Tony is a naturalist, traveller and wildlife photographer. From an early age, he has had a deep passion for nature, with a particular love for birds. In 1995, while still very young, he began his journey into nature photography, travelling to Kenya for the first time with his camera in search of that unique connection between the nature photographer and the wild.
To date, he has made more than 35 trips to the African continent, his favourite destination. In recent years, his work has focused on a number of specific species, allowing him to develop long-term projects, become increasingly specialised, and connect his photography with the conservation programmes dedicated to those species.
In this hands-on talk, sponsored by SONY, he will explore how a photographer—and their photographic vision—evolves through the projects they choose to pursue.
Specialising in a particular photographic discipline, and even more so in a handful of specific species, means that projects develop over many years, creating an archive that reflects the photographer’s own evolution. Through personal projects spanning the last two decades, Tony will share this journey, with species such as the Bonelli’s eagle, the Iberian lynx, the bearded vulture and Eleonora’s falcon taking centre stage.
Finally, as the SONY Delta Photo Tour will take place the day after his talk, he will also share practical wildlife photography tips for photographing birds and other wildlife in wetlands. Participants joining the outing will gain useful insights into composition, creative viewpoints, and field techniques that can be applied in environments such as the Ebro Delta.
